YRC Freight Terminal Manager-I (Ventura/Oxnard) in Ventura, California

JOB SUMMARY

Leads, manages and coordinates the operations of a small-sized facility for inbound and/or outbound delivery of freight. Responsible for meeting operational and revenue goals and ensure maximum cost-effective methods while achieving customer satisfaction for the service area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Functions as Leader emulating the behaviors expected by the company of all employees.

  2. Coordinates all activities related to the operations to ensure continuous improvement while reducing costs and to meet or exceed customer expectations for on-time delivery.

  3. Manages the facility hiring process by hiring the best qualified applicants and by ensuring compliance with company and government regulations.

  4. Facilitates education and training programs to motivate employees to improve performance and quality of work processes.

  5. Conducts performance reviews. Focuses on development and career planning for the service team.

  6. Reviews and analyzes expenditure, financial and operations reports to determine requirement for increasing profits and improving processes. Prepare recommendations on findings for regional management evaluation. Prepare facility budget and monitor monthly variance.

  7. Supports sales efforts to achieve quota attainment by maintaining contact with the facility’s customer care team and by establishing relationships with customers.

  8. Maintains working relationship with Union Local.

  9. Provides a safe and efficient working environment for employees and the public by ensuring compliance with company and government safety regulations.

  10. Extensive knowledge and effective use of the local union contract.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics or related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

  2. Previous management and/or supervisory experience.

  3. Demonstrated team building and leadership skills with the ability to work well with others and effectively lead people.

  4. Decision-making ability with excellent customer focus and demonstrated attention to detail with proven track record for delivering results.

  5. Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

  6. Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced/high volume environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. 3 or more years successful operations and/or sales experience

  2. Knowledge of company policy, procedures and applicable collective bargaining agreements
